This is a nice hike on hot days as we'll hike mostly in the trees. This trail is located just to the north of Ironton Park and across highway 550 from Crystal Lake. The loop follows an old mining road with some sections of single track. We may cross a couple of small streams. There may be some off-trail hiking at the end to avoid a wetlands area. After hiking 1.85 miles up the Albany Loop Trail, we'll head up Hendrick Gulch for 1/2 mile and then return back to the Albany Loop Trail. Bring poles for a few steep ups and downs and the stream crossings. Leader has hiked the Albany Loop Trail, but not the Hendrick Gulch section.

Let's meet at the parking lot at Hartwell Park in Ridgway at 9am and carpool to the trailhead from there.
