Hiking – RMNP - Five Lakes Loop - Bear, Nymph, Dream, Emerald, and Haiyaha

Enjoy the spectacular scenery on this 4 mile RT hike with an 865' gain from Bear Lake, past Nymph and Dream Lakes, to the beautiful turquoise subalpine Lake Haiyaha.  This popular destination in RMNP includes views of Longs Peak, Otis Peak, Hallett Peak, and Sharktooth.  As we near Lake Haiyaha, we will need to negotiate some large boulders.  Once we reach the lake, we will be rewarded with the views that surround this subalpine lake that had turned turquoise in 2022 after a large rockfall from Chaos Canyon slid into the water.  Here, we will enjoy our lunch before heading back to the TH at Bear Lake.  

There are 3 meeting locations, depending on where you come from:  1) JJ's Country Store, 4015 S. Taft Hill Rd, Ft. Collins (NE edge of lot) at 6:45 a.m., 2) JAX parking lot, 2665 W. Eisenhower Blvd., Loveland (SE edge) at 7:00 a.m., OR 3) Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, 1000 US Hwy. 36 (far west end of lot) at 7:50 a.m.   We will carpool to the Bear Lake shuttle lot from the visitor center.  Leaders have RMNP and timed entry permits.
