This trip is for those who already know how to ice climb and have their own gear. Leader will plan on leading routes and may set-up some top ropes if routes are available and unused. Participants will be contacted to arrange rides and group gear. May be cold (close to zero with wind-chill) so bring appropriate clothing. Approach is uphill and may be through snow/ice on boulders- microspikes and poles are helpful.
We'll meet at the parking area at the end of the gravel road that goes around the east and north sides of Montgomery reservoir- just before the gated road closure. Car-pooling may be individually arranged from town. Be at the trailhead and ready to start hiking out at 9 am.
Required Equipment
Basic ice climbing kit- helmet, harness, boots, crampons, tools, belay device. We'll need some participants to bring ropes and anchor gear. Warm belay layers, sit pad and hot drinks helpful to keep warm. Pole(s) and microspikes helpful for approach. No avy gear typically needed.
