This is listed as a Northern Colorado Group trip. If you are a member of the NOCO Group, send me an email and I will add your name to the roster prior to the trip opening to all on January 22.

We will begin the trip at the Glacier Gorge TH and snowshoe to Mill Creek Junction. From there we will follow the Mills Lake trail to the Icy Brook and follow it to the Gorge and Loch Vale. We will then cross Loch Vale and continue to Embryo Pond. From Embryo Pond we will backtrack to Loch Vale and head to Serendipity Pond, follow the drainage to the Winter Trail and return to the Glacier Gorge TH.

We will take short breaks as necessary along the way. I would like to have our lunch break either at Embryo or Serendipity Pond. Depending on weather and the wishes of the group, we may climb one the Glacier Knobs at Serendipity Pond.

This trip will involve a lot of off trail and bushwhacking. That means it will be more difficult and require more energy than an on trail trip. If you sign up, please be aware of the increased difficulty.

We will meet at Target on Troutman & College at 6:50am. We will leave promptly at 7am. We will coordinate a carpool for those coming from the Denver/Boulder area.

Required Equipment

Since this is a snowshoe trip, snowshoes will be required. Given the off trail travel, gaiters and trekking poles will come in handy. Also it can be windy at Loch Vale, so be sure you have wind gear.
