Nordic Skiing – Guanella Pass

A ~ 4 mile XC ski to Guanella Pass along the Guanella Pass Road in the Arapaho National Forest. Our backcountry ski starts at the intersection of Guanella Pass Road and the Naylor Lake Road. We'll hike along the closed portion of Guanella Pass Road to Guanella Pass. We'll be afforded amazing views of the surrounding high peaks. This trips length & gain are "Easy" but due to the altitude its been made "moderate".

Embarking on a xc ski to Guanella Pass in Arapaho National Forest promises a peaceful winter setting among striking alpine peaks. Beginning at the winter road closure, we'll follow a well-established trail to the Pass. As we ascend, we'll be pleasured with views of Mount Bierstadt and Mount Blue Sky. The views along this snow covered Pass trail are well worth the effort. We'll find a comfortable spot for snack/lunch. We'll trace our ski tracks for the return to the parking lot. Should the group desire, we may have a surprise optional ski apres beverages in Georgetown. Our pace will be brisk given the anticipated weather conditions. Carpool Place & Time: Meet at the Wooly Mammoth PnR, Section BB, at 7:00AM, for a 7:15AM departure (Wooly Mammoth Park-N-Ride - Google Maps)
