RMOTHG Trip – Bill Couch Mountain

Let’s explore an often-overlooked hike in Deer Creek Canyon Park: Bill Couch Mountain. Not only is a nice trail close to the city with a mountain feel, Bill Couch Mountain has a lovely view of South Valley Park's cool rock formations and downtown Denver, as well.

  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 7.4 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,790 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 7,197 ft
  • Pace: 1.5-2.0

This hike is for RMOTHG members only, and part of the hike is exploratory for the leader.

According to Alltrails, “This trail has it all: beautiful, sweeping vistas, jutting red rock formations, tall pine forests, and all the sights, sounds, and smells that go with them. There's quite a bit of elevation gained on this hike as well, so hikers can expect a good workout. “

On our ascent, we will be taking Plymouth Creek Trail, Plymouth Mountain Trail, Homesteader Trail, Red Mesa Loop, and Golden Eagle Trail. We will return a similar way, bypassing Homesteader, and taking Meadowlark back to the TH. Parts of this park burned in the Deer Creek Fire 2025, and we might catch a glimpse of those areas near the Meadowlark trail.

We will be meeting at Deer Creek Canyon Park (13388 Grizzly Dr, Littleton, CO 80127) at 7:30 a.m. for a no-later-than 7:45 departure time.
