RMOTHG Trip – Brainard Lake Rec Area - Long Lake TH - Lake Isabelle

Lake Isabelle ☺️☺️☺️ ... that's all I have to say really!!! It is truly one of Colorado's most beautiful Lakes!!! We will start hiking at the Brainard Lake Picnic Site/TH as the Long Lake TH will not be opened yet. Since we will be hiking so early in the season, there will be fewer people on the trail, yay!!! Please read Leader's Notes Below for complete information.

I hiked Lake Isabelle 6-25-2024 and was pleasantly surprised to find the trail way less crowded than in July or August.  There may be some mud, water, or some snow to contend with (very little), my notes from last year said we didn't even sink in the snow.  The trail does get a bit rocky and rooty above the Jean Lunning intersection.  There is one log to cross over a cascading stream right before we make it to the lake.  If the trail isn't covered in snow, we may continue along the lake shore a bit further.
Below is our proposed route, which we may or may not follow exactly depending on weather/snow on trail, etc. etc.:

Clear Creek Parking Lot, 10th & Archer Streets, Golden - 6:10AM

If you are coming from the north, we may be able to form other car pools depending on who signs up.  We can definitely pick you up at the Brainard Lake Winter Parking lot, but we can only take 3 cars to the trailhead.
