From Chicago Basin, an early start.
There are two options for getting to Chicago Basin:
- take the Durango & Silverton train, and hike
- hike from Purgatory trailhead
So far, team members have opted for the train, either on 29 or 30 July. Call the railroad to see what your options might be at this point. Arriving a day or two early, we'll plan to attempt some other peaks, especially Windom & Sunlight on the 31st.
We all plan to depart on 2 August, the day after we do Eolus.
If you opt to hike from Purgatory, consider taking a day and a half to get in, so that you still have energy for the peaks!
If you'd like to discuss, feel free to contact me.

Required Equipment

You will need your backpacking and camping equipment, and a helmet for the peak(s).
