Alpine Mine and Ridgeline
Hike up to the site of the Alpine Mine. Option to continue along the ridgeline as far as desired. Spectacular views of Ouray 3000' below.
The trail (USFS #152) starts at the Weehawken TH after following the Weehawken Pack Trail (USFS #206) in Ridgway. The trail includes numerous switchbacks but is easy to follow, ascending through aspen and then conifers.
Hikers can continue along the ridgeline and eventually onto a social trail that requires a little scrambling.
