Backcountry Ski: Hocus Peak
Backcountry Ski - AT, Tele, Splitboard. Difficulty: moderate. Distance: 4-4.5mi. Elevation Gain: 1,560'. Dip your skis into spring. Winter may be gone, but the snow remains a few months more for those who can't get enough. We'll be in the trees heading up, and opening up when we near the saddle. Ski north or south, or head up to the summit are options. We'll be guided by weather and snowpack conditions. Requirements: You have AIARE L1 or Avalanche Rescue under your belt. Own and know how to use your Transceiver, Probe and Shovel. Helmet required. Be in good shape, and able to travel on variable snow surfaces. This should not be your first backcountry day ski trip.
