Bob and Betty Lakes

A 12.4 mile out and back trail via the King Lake Trail from the Hessie Trailhead near Nederland. Bob and Betty Lakes are two lakes nestled up against the east side of the Continental Divide in the Indian Peaks Wilderness

According to AllTrails, this is a popular trail for backpacking, camping, and hiking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are June through November.  While much of the trail is in the trees, the last mile and a half is above timberline with great views of the Continental Divide and parts of the old road/train tracks to Rollins Pass.

Adding King Lake to the hike adds 0.8 miles and 300 feet of elevation gain.  Other options including going up to the Continental Divide and the High Lonesome Trail for an additional 1.4 miles and 550 ft of elevation gain.  Going further to Rollins Pass adds 2 miles and 600 feet of elevation gain to the base trip to Bob and Betty Lakes.
