Cedar Mesa/Bears Ears National Monument UT

An outstanding landscape with extensive cultural and natural resources, including Ancestral Puebloan cultural sites.

Cedar Mesa and Comb Ridge are part of Bears Ears National Monument, co-managed by the Bureau of Land Management Monticello Field Office, the Manti La Sal National Forest, and the five Tribes of the Bears Ears Commission.

The monument itself has no gas, water, food, or traditional visitor centers, but you'll find information and visitor services in gateway towns like Bluff and Blanding, with the closest hub for resources often being the Bears Ears Education Center at 567 W Main St, Bluff, UT 84512.

Visitor/permit information is available here.  Permits are required for backpacking and to visit the Moon House, an important Ancestral Puebloan site. A day pass is required to hike in the Cedar Mesa canyons and Comb Ridge canyons. Passes can be purchased in 90 days in advance online at recreation.gov
