RMNP - Chasm Lake

Located just below Long’s Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park and inside a deep cirque, Chasm Lake is one of Colorado’s most iconic alpine lakes.

Note: RMNP restricts usage, parking, and entry depending on season and trailhead location. See the CMC Trip Planning Guide with a compact list of parking and entry requirements, alerts and closures, permitting, and general guidance. More general and contact information can be found at the RMNP website.
This hike begins at Longs Peak Trailhead, and climbs steadily through a subalpine forest up to the alpine tundra.  The trail eventually turns to rock and requires scrambling up the cirque to where the lake is located.  Directions to trailhead:  East Longs Peak Trail – Longs Peak Trail – Keyhole Route – Shelf Trail - Google Maps
