Chute Canyon, San Rafael Swell, Utah

Easy hike, 4.5 miles RT, 180' elevation gain. There are no obstacles in Chute Canyon, thus allowing a full appreciation of the ornate canyon walls.

Chute Canyon is one of the many slot canyons in the Muddy Creek Wilderness Area. The hike can be accessed by the Behind the Reef Road. The canyon has three sections of narrows and is sometimes combined with Crack Canyon to form a loop. Spring and Fall are ideal times to hike this canyon. Always be aware of the extreme flash flood potential in this area.
