Crater Lake is typically accessed from the Granby/Monarch Lake side. This route is from the West, starting at Brainard Lake and takes the Pawnee Pass over the Continental Divide. Pass several lakes including Brainard, Long, Isabelle, and Pawnee. The elevation gain and water resources provide a diversity of eco-systems and animal life.
