Dave Wood Winter Recreation Area
The Dave Wood Winter Recreation Area is located 15 miles SW of Montrose. It has ~4.4 miles or 7km of ungroomed trails for XC skiing and snowshoeing. The elevation of the forested area ranges from 8,000 to 8,400 feet.

The trails are marked by level of difficulty from Elana Miles Area and Branson Loop (easiest), Happy Hollow and Walker Area (more difficult) to Plantation Alley ( most difficult). Dave Wood Road is plowed to the parking area and passable to most vehicles. All trails begin at Forest Trail #131.1 and end at Forest Trail #131.1.
