Geyser Spring/Winters Trail

Two easy to moderate short hikes located near each other. Both hikes together total about 7.5 miles and 1350' elevation gain.

Geyser Spring (USFS #648) is Colorado's only active geyser and Winters Trail (USFS #202) is a relatively flat hike through high terrain with great views of El Diente.

Take Dunton Road (38) off Lizard Head Pass to the Geyser Spring Trailhead.  The trail which now has a bridge over Dolores Creek.

Then a nine-mile drive on Dunton Rd, West Dolores Rd (535) west (closed in winter) and Eagle Creek Rd (471) to the Calico Trailhead. This TH also accesses the Calico North Trail (#208) and beyond.

There are other trails and trailheads in the nearby Lizard Head Wilderness area.
