Lackawanna Peak
Hike to a centennial 13'er off Independence Pass. Accessible once the pass is open in late May until it closes in the fall.
Start from the North Fork Lake Creek TH. The turn-out to the TH and parking is right before the first hairpin turn (going towards Aspen) on Independence Pass. Hike south/southwest off-trail toward the peak, following gentle tundra slopes along a gorgeous ridge to the summit, where you have views of the entire Sawatch range and beyond. This is an off-trail, class 2 hike on tundra and some rocks. The summit coordinates are 39.09353, -106.51204.
Since the peak was renamed from "Pk 13823," sometimes it is better to look at the TH name in researching this trip.
