Loch Lomond
Loch Lomond is a beautiful alpine lake located above Alice near St. Marys.
Loch Lomond Road and Trail (also called Steuart Road or NFSR 701) is a shared hiking and OHV route which leads to Loch Lomond. High-clearance, 4WD/AWD vehicles are recommended. There are two gates which are closed seasonally for motorized vehicles. The upper gate is closed October 15-July 15 and the lower gate is typically closed December 1 - June 1. The road is open year-round for hiking and snowshoeing. Along the way there up close views of Mount Bancroft and more distant views of Mount Blue Sky to the south. The lake is right next to the James Peak Wilderness and provides access to the Continental Divide.
There is NO PARKING allowed on Alice Road. Parking is allowed along FR 701.1 or Stewart Road (this is how the sign on the road actually reads even though on maps it is Steuart Road).
