RMNP - McGregor Mountain to Lumpy Ridge TH

A mostly off-trail, one-way hike starting at Fall River Visitor Center and ending at Lumpy Ridge TH.

From the Fall River Visitor's Center, travel off-trail to climb McGregor Mountain (10,486'). Descend the mountain and hike off-trail to cross over Lower Black Canyon Trail and continue off-trail to McGregor Falls.  Follow the McGregor Falls Trail down eventually cutting off-trail over to the Lower Black Canyon Trail, traveling on-trail WSW, until reaching the Lumpy Ridge Trail junction and then turning SSW onto that trail to reach Lumpy Ridge TH.  There are restrooms there.

Note: Fall River Visitors Center is open all year.  Lumpy Ridge TH and surrounding area may be closed for raptor nesting early spring through the end of July. Always check the NPS Lumpy Ridge page for specific, up-to-date closure dates, as they can be extended.

Note: While MacGregor Ranch lies within the RMNP boundary, it remains private property subject to a conservation easement. It is a working ranch established in 1873 and is on the National Historic Register. It is critical to stay on the trail when passing through or near the ranch. Visitors should also close all green gates after passing through them, and respect any local posted guidance.

Note: Google says the proper spelling is MacGregor Mtn and MacGregor Falls, (sometimes with a lowercase 'g' in the middle), though frequently spelled as McGregor on official maps and in references, including the National Park Service (NPS).  CoTrex spells it MacGregor and Macgregor. AllTrails spells it MacGregor.
