Millset Trail #1317

Moderate 3.5 mile hike (one way), with a few steep sections, with an elevation gain of approx. 1200'. It runs through a meadow that is surrounded by aspens, which show great color mid-October. Trail leads to an old cabin near Greenhorn Creek.

The trailhead is 4.5 miles north of Rye on CO 165.  There is a forest service sign 0.1 mile before the parking area turnoff.  If you are coming from San Isabel, drive 5.5 miles south on CO 165, or watch for the YMCA Camp Jackson entrance and proceed another 0.4 mile to the parking area turnoff.  The trail is a somewhat steep incline in the first 0.5 mile, and then is fairly mild until a somewhat steep decline to the creek and cabin.  The colors can be very nice in the fall.  In the spring, the creek rises during the snowmelt and can make the crossing to the cabin a challenge.
