Mount Argentine

Mount Argentine is a 11,414' mountain near the town of Blue River, Colorado. It can be climbed as an out-and-back or a loop.

The trail starts at the Pennsylvania Creek Trailhead and continues up the 4WD road along the Pennsylvania Creek drainage.  There is an informal, unmarked trail that loops north off the jeep road up to Mount Argentine about .8 mile from the start, and again around 2.6 miles from the start.  The trail is mostly class 1 walking, although there may be a bit of class 2 between the trail and the highest point.  It is also possible to ski on the back (north) side of Mount Argentine through some intermittent clearings.  The 2 main routes are:

Mount Argentine:  For this out-and-back trip, follow the 4WD road approximately .8 mile from the trailhead parking area.  Turn left at an unmarked trail and work your way up the mountain.  Return the same way.  This route is approximately 4 miles round trip.   Adding a ski descent to the north would increase this mileage.

Mount Argentine loop: Follow the 4WD road approximately 2.25 miles from the trailhead parking area, where the road makes a turn to the north and zig-zags up the hill.  At the top of the hill, follow an unmarked trail to the northwest that leads to the peak.  Continue following the trail as it descends to the south, and return on the jeep road.  This route can be done in either direction and is approximately 6 miles.

Access also possible from CO-9 on the Wakefield/Blue River Trail, managed by Summit County
