North Star Mountain

North Star Mountain is a 13,614' peak that lies on the continental divide just west of Hoosier Pass.

North Star Mountain is a very steep-sided mountain on all sides except the east ridge, which is the most common access.  Hiking is challenging due to the large unstable boulders along the ridge climb to the actual summit.  Due to the steepness, there is considerable avalanche danger in some aspects of the terrain. The mountain includes USFS and Summit County Board of Commissioners ownership. Private property and mining claims also exist in the area - please be aware of and respectful of these properties.
