Pumphouse Campground

Near Kremmling, Pumphouse Campground offers riverside camping, access to the Upper Colorado River, fishing for Rainbow and Brown Trout, and nearby hiking trails. Popular for rafting, kayaking, and soaking in natural hot springs.

Pumphouse Campground is a popular riverside destination managed by the BLM, located along the Upper Colorado River between Kremmling and Bond. Highlighted in many Colorado paddling and angling guides, it offers excellent access for rafting, kayaking, and fishing. Sites are spread out with views of the river or surrounding cliffs. The campground sits near the launch point for the scenic Upper Colorado River float.

Pumphouse has 18 individual campsites and 3 group sites. Most sites accommodate 2 vehicles; group sites allow more depending on site.

Amenities: Picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets, boat ramp, changing rooms. No potable water — bring your own.

RV/Tents: All sites allow RVs or tents.

Reservations: Available 6 months in advance for individual sites; 12 months for group sites.

DRIVING: From Golden – approx. 120 miles / 2.5 hours. Take I-70 W to Exit 205 (Silverthorne), north on CO-9 to Kremmling, then west on Trough Road (County Rd 1) for 14 miles. Campground entrance is marked on the left.

Fees: $10–$20 per night for individual sites, $30+ for group sites. Extra vehicle and river use fees may apply. Carpool estimate: 240 miles round trip × $0.30 ÷ 3 = $24
