RMNP - Mount Ida
Mount Ida is located on the western side of Rocky Mountain National Park, with 365 degree views of RMNP from the summit. The 10 mile hike gains 2400' of elevation, and is much less busy than those on the east side of the park. Pica, marmots, ptarmigan, bighorn sheep, and deer can often be observed while hiking.

Gain altitude consistently for the first 3 miles until reaching a broad tundra ridge. The trail follows the ridge to a saddle, then splits into several well-defined social trails. Some cross boulders and others go around most of the boulders. on the way to the Mt Ida summit (12,881').
There is a good parking lot with restrooms at Milner Pass. Note that no timed entry is required for the west side of the park before 9 am.
