Stone and Sheep Mountains

Stone Mtn (7,549ft) and Sheep Mtn (8,458ft) from Round Mtn Trailhead in Big Thompson Canyon. These peaks afford fantastic views of RMNP to the west and Big Thompson Canyon.

The most known destination from Round Mountain TH is Sheep Mountain. Most people think Round Mountain Trail leads to Round Mountain. Round Mountain is not even labelled on the USGS map 101 (Big Thompson Canyon). Round Mountain Trail leads to the summit of Sheep Mountain. If folks see Sheep Mountain in the title of the hike I want to lead, they will not know I mean what locals call Round Mountain.
