City of Thornton Parks and Open Space

The open spaces provide an experience of nature in a suburban setting. Terrain is varied with rolling hills and medium grass prairie with a creek running through it. Carpenter Park has several amenities, including two lakes, boathouse, playground and amphitheater. Stonehacker Farm has historic buildings, a rail  car and various plows and other farm equipment. There are several pedestrian bridges over Grange Creek.

Grange Creek Trail: 

This 5.5 mile easy loop route takes us on the Grange Creek Trail, which winds through Riverdale Open Space and Prairie Dog Habitat. The trail continues through Carpenter Park in Northglenn, then passes Stonehocker Farm and the open prairie of Fox Run Open Space before returning to the TH.

TH — Grandview Ponds Open Space parking lot, Thornton, CO 80233.  

Directions: From I -25, take 104th Ave. exit. Go East on 104th about 2.5 miles. Cross Colorado Blvd. Grandview Ponds parking lot is just past Colorado Blvd. on the right.

A porta-potty is available in the parking lot.

Most of the trail is paved with little shade.
