Walker Ranch

Boulder County Park on the southwest side of Boulder off Flagstaff Rd near Gross Reservoir.

Walker Ranch Loop: 8 miles, 1,600 feet of elevation gain.

This is a great loop hike near Eldorado Canyon with multiple starting points:

  • Walker Ranch Loop Trailhead
  • Meyers Gulch Trailhead
  • Ethel Harrold Trailhead
  • Crescent Meadows TH
  • Josie Heath

Note:

Hiking in Eldorado Canyon State Park requires a per person fee of $5 collected (and non-refundable) before sign-up for a hike as well as filling out and depositing a “hiker registration” form before the hike at the entrance. If you park at Crescent Meadows each car needs to be up-to-date with the registration having a "Keep Colorado Wild Pass" stamped on it or pay the $10 fee at Eldo Canyon Entrance Station. Compliance is monitored by CPW rangers checking car license plates. Stickers are no longer required. If you wish TO START a trip in Boulder OS that crosses into the Crescent Meadows TH, you DO NOT need the "Keep Colorado Wild Pass" or $10 Fee, you just need to have all participants pay the $5 fee during sign up and you still need to deposit "the hiker registration" form at Eldo Canyon Entrance Station.

The other parking lots at Loop trailheads are located in Boulder County, which does not require a parking pass or entry fee.

Route Conditions:

Great for all seasons.  However, much of the Loop is unshaded so consider visiting in shoulder seasons or winter.  Beware of icy steps in winter and spring near the creek picnic area. For more information, visit the Boulder County website: https://bouldercounty.gov/open-space/parks-and-trails/walker-ranch/
