Woods Quarry via McClintock, Mesa, and Enchanted Mesa

Wood Quarry is a historic abandoned quarry with a sweeping lookout to the east over Boulder.

2.5 miles easy (for McClintock and Enchanted Mesa) to medium (for Wood Quarry Loop), with total elevation gain of approx. 600 ft (with 226 ft of that being on the 0.4 mile Woods Quarry Loop).  Hike to an abandoned quarry that provided sandstone for Boulder's buildings and sidewalks in the 1890s before it closed in the 1920s. As you enjoy this short out-and-back trail, take in the sweeping panoramic views of Boulder and the plains. Accessed via the Amphitheater Parking lot at Chautauqua by taking the McClintock Upper Trail to the short Woods Quarry Trail, then back down via the Enchanted Mesa Trail. McClintock and Enchanted Mesa go through pine forest. Total elevation gain is approximately 600 feet, with the steepest section being the 0.4-mile Woods Quarry loop (226 ft elevation gain).
