Trail is in good condition. Most the trail is fairly wide, enough for 2+ people to walk shoulder to shoulder. Minimal erosion. Recent storm within the past 48 hours (~3-6" snow) left some residual snow on the trails which was packed down in spots. Spikes were not needed but poles were helpful.
Early morning weekday Trailblazers hike. There were four members of the entire party, meeting at 6:15 at the parking lot with 6:25 departure time. Parking lot was vacant upon arrival, plenty of parking. Pit toilets available at south side of parking lot and were well maintained. Civil twilight began at 6:42, sunrise at 7:09. Headlamps needed for the first 10-15 minutes of the hike then were unnecessary after that. The first mile is sustained moderately steep. Great views of the South Platte (Long Scraggy, Cathedral Spires, Pikes Peak) at the top - can glimpse a small section of the Lost Creek wilderness as well. Evidence of wildlife throughout the trail - wild turkey tracks, possible mountain lion tracks. Heard turkeys in the gulch while at the trail summit. We were the only party on the trail for the entirety of the hike. We were able to sustain a 2.5 mph pace for the duration of the hike, total time on the trail just shy of 2 hours. The group elected to stop by Aspen Perk in Conifer/Aspen Park on the return trip for coffee/brunch.
