Photo Section
Photo Section The CMC Photo Section helps people improve their outdoor photography skills and provides photographic opportunities through meetings, classes, social events, and photo hikes and events. The section’s instruction focuses primarily on how to capture better nature photographs through improved technique and awareness of composition. We welcome individuals of all skill levels from beginners to professionals. https://www.cmc.org/groups-sections/special-interest-sections/photo-section https://www.cmc.org/groups-sections/special-interest-sections/photo-section/@@download/image/mountain-with-wildflowers-e1530213875272-768x307.jpg

Photo Section

The CMC Photo Section helps people improve their outdoor photography skills and provides photographic opportunities through meetings, classes, social events, and photo hikes and events. The section’s instruction focuses primarily on how to capture better nature photographs through improved technique and awareness of composition. We welcome individuals of all skill levels from beginners to professionals.

Meetings

We hold meetings at 7:00 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month at the AMC. The meetings typically have a presentation focusing on a photographic subject (e.g. wildlife, flowers, people in nature, etc.) given by a section member or an outside pro photographer.  We also do a slideshow of member images and discuss the images and exchange tips. Last part of the meeting is dedicated to social interaction to ask questions, catch up with friends, and coordinate activities with other members.

Hikes and events

Find our hikes and events in the CMC calendar. We do hikes year round at a casual pace that include planned and unplanned stops for taking photographs. Events include day hikes in the Colorado Mountains and foothills as well as multi-day trips to places like Canyonlands and Crested Butte.

Schools

We hold different types of schools each year and the format varies from multiday classroom instruction on gear, image composition, and photo editing to in-the-field instruction. Look for announcements in the newsletters and in the cmc calendar.

Newsletters

We publish a monthly newsletter with upcoming events and recent images from members.
