Single Tall Pole Hiking – Mt Galbraith
This clinic will cover the basic techniques for improving your efficiency ascending and descending on trails and peak climbs using a Single Tall Pole (STP). The STP enables you to reduce impact on joints, reduce excess muscle strain and eliminate the damaging plunge step. You will feel the enhanced stability and balance as the STP enables you to concentrate on effective solid foot placements (i.e., better traction), which makes your backcountry travel easier, safer, and more enjoyable.
Hiking – Golden Gate Canyon State Park
This is the fourth in the Women's History series featuring "Women of the Colorado Gold Rush Era". This hike features Augusta Tabor who married Horace, a stone cutter, and moved from Kansas via train, river boat and an oxen drawn wagon to Colorado. Her life changed from living in a 12' x 16' cabin to owning a 2 story, frame house in Leadville in 1877 to living the upper eschelon life and supporting the Tabor Opera House to a scandalous divorce in 1883.
Hiking – Gore Range Trail
Challenging one-way hike from Copper to Frisco through the Eagles Nest Wilderness area and over Uneva Pass. Expect wonderful views of 13ers and alpine lakes.
BPX Trip – BPX 4-Day: Double Bypass Loop from Long Lake TH
The Pawnee-Buchanan Loop is a classic Colorado backpacking trip through the heart of the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. It is a difficult 34 mile loop that includes two mountain passes, wildflowers, waterfalls, alpine lakes, wildlife, and incredible mountain views. This route passes through many popular areas in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, including Crater Lake, Lake Isabelle, Red Deer Lake, and Gourd Lake, so make sure you have the correct permits and camp only at designated sites around Crater Lake. NOTE: This trip is for BPX members only.
