Pay Range: $25–$28/hour
Location: Golden, CO (In-office and remote flexibility)
Schedule: Part-time to Full-time (hours vary month-to-month, see breakdown below)

Founded in 1912, the Colorado Mountain Club (CMC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to adventure, recreation, conservation, and education in the outdoors. With over 6,000 members, CMC offers 3,000 annual trips and more than 250 courses. Each year, our Youth Programs connect 5,000+ K–12 students across Colorado to meaningful outdoor experiences that build confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of the natural world.
Position Overview
The Interim Youth Programs Administrator (Contract, Temporary) will provide leadership and administrative support for CMC Youth Programs during the Program Director’s maternity leave (February–May 2026). This role focuses on child care licensing, summer camp hiring and preparation, and supporting key program operations leading into our busiest season.
This is a hands-on administrative role requiring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple priorities. The ideal candidate has experience with youth program management and is knowledgeable in Colorado Child Care Licensing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Child Care Licensing (Feb–May): Ensure compliance with Colorado state licensing, including inspections, required staff/camper documentation, and health/safety requirements.
- Summer Hiring & Onboarding (Feb–May): Support hiring, interviewing, background checks, and onboarding of seasonal staff.
- Program Preparation (Feb–May): Assist with scheduling, contracted services, registration questions, curriculum development support, and camp financial assistance allocation.
- Partnerships & Contracts (Feb–May): Finalize partner contracts, ensure insurance requirements are met, and maintain communication with school and community partners.
- Internship Support (Feb–Apr): Provide administrative support for the CMC Teen Internship program, including stipends, reports, and celebration planning.
- School Program Support (Mar–May): Assist with large spring school programs, including contracts, insurance, and logistics.
- Summer Camp Training (May): Assist with preparation and delivery of staff training week.
Estimated Workload by Month
- February: 20–25 hrs/week
- March: 20–28 hrs/week
- April: 30–36 hrs/week
- May: 30–36 hrs/week
Minimum Qualifications
- Program Management Experience: At least 2–3 years in youth program administration, education, or outdoor program management.
- Licensing Expertise: Direct experience with Colorado Child Care Licensing processes and compliance (required).
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple deadlines and keep detailed records.
- Communication Skills: Clear and professional written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate with staff, partners, and seasonal employees.
- Outdoor Education/Youth Programming Knowledge: Familiarity with camps, school programs, and risk management in outdoor settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising or onboarding seasonal/instructor staff.
- Familiarity with program budgeting and registration systems.
- Background in outdoor recreation or experiential education.
Compensation & Contract Details
- Hourly pay: $25–$28/hour (dependent on experience).
- This is a contract role; limited benefits are included.
