Thank you to ALL of the volunteers that led and coled teams for Summit 2026. The entire event would not have been possible without everyone's dedication and passion for the 14ers.
One volunteer in particular stood out for her enthusiasm, thorough planning, and help pull together an Alpine After Party in Buena Vista. Thank you Annamari Dietrichson for all that you do!
We asked Annamari for details about her summit of Mount Antero and other involvement in the Club:
Why did you get involved with Summit 2026?
I wanted to be part of this historic event. I love hiking mountains and I knew this would be an incredible accomplishment and honor to be one of the Summit 2026 leaders.
Incredible day! My Antero team was all women and we had a sense of camaraderie and adventure that exemplifies the spirit of Mary Cronin (former CMC member and first female to hike all Colorado’s 14ers) hiking up to Antero we had a beautiful sunrise over Cronin peak, which made us feel humbled thinking we’re walking in the footsteps of so many hardcore women in the CMC. The highlight of course was the peak! When we go to the summit, I got a txt from my friend Theo, who lead Bel-ox. He got to the first summit with his group the same time as we did to Antero. I sent him a pic of us jumping and he copied us and now his jumping picture is famous. I think the biggest highlight of summit 2026 was knowing that all over the state people are working together to accomplish the goal and the Sawatch after party was a very special time to hear everyone’s stories as they came down the mountain. 15 peaks were represented at the after party!!
How long have you been with CMC? What is your background with the Club?
I joined the club in 2023, did my first home with Jose Pacheco and then tore my ACL the following weekend, so I couldn’t hike for most of the first year as a member. Once I recovered, I soon became a trip leader. I love leading hiking trips.
My most memorable moment with the club was on a winter camping trip, I woke up in the morning, 6°F with 8inches of snowfall at our camp, and thought to myself… growing up in South Africa and only living in tropical/ subtropical climates my whole life, I never dreamed that I would have the chance to experience this. Needless to say, I hope to lead many winter camping trips in the future.
What are your favorite things to do in Colorado?
Anything outdoors! I love backpacking, hiking, mountain biking.
Most recently backpacked hunky dory and Harvey lakes in the holy cross wilderness and it took my breath away. I have hiked fancy pass and Missouri lakes before, but seeing it again as a backpacking trip blew my mind.
I’m looking forward to submitting Mount Silverheels, Hoosier Ridge and red mountain on September 30th.
I think that’s enough lol
