"Hidden Mountains: Survival and Reckoning After a Climb Gone Wrong"by Michael Wejchert is a 2023 book about a 2018 climbing expedition in Alaska's remote Hidden Mountains where a rockfall critically injures one of four climbers, leading to a harrowing nine-hour rescue and exploring themes of risk, survival, and the emotional aftermath. The book blends the specific event with the history of mountaineering, examining the allure and dangers of climbing and the cost of living with trauma. It won a National Outdoor Book Award.
