We’ll start from the Bear Lake Trailhead and head to the Glacier Gorge trail junction and then take the Fire Trail towards East Glacier Knob. Summiting East Glacier Knob (exploratory) will depend on conditions. From there we will continue on the Fire Trail until it ends at the Glacier Gorge Trail. We will follow the Glacier Gorge Trail to Mills Lake. Then we will backtrack to the junction and head to the Loch. After the Loch we will head off trail towards West Glacier Knob. Summiting will again depend on conditions. We will continue until we hit the Haiyaha cut-off Trail following that trail to Lake Haiyaha. After the lake we will backtrack to a point where we can head directly to Nymph Lake off trail. From Nymph Lake we will head to Bear Lake and then the Trailhead.
Our exact path could change based on actual snow and ice conditions. Once everything is frozen it is common to hike directly up a drainage as opposed to the summer trails.
Everyone will be expected to participate in breaking trail and route finding.
Bear Lake Trailhead 7:15AM.
Required Equipment
