Ascending Hikes – Deer Creek Canyon Park

This Ascending Hike is designed for those a bit worried about their hiking ability. The hike is at a lower elevation so we can concentrate on our pace. At the end of the hike we can make some recommendations about what hikes each member might be ready to tackle.

  • Moderate
  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)
  • Mileage: 6.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,200 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 7,285 ft
  • Pace: 1.8

To get the most out of your first Ascending Hike, please review the below items:

Alert!  This is a popular program.  If there is a standby list, join it.  Standby lists almost always clear.  Your Trip Leader and AHS Coordinators put a lot of effort into planning section activities.  Last minute cancellations and no-shows are very discouraging and insufficient numbers may jeopardize the program.  We realize that “things happen,” however PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP FOR AN AHS TRIP UNLESS YOU FULLY INTEND TO PARTICIPATE ON TRIP DAY.

Meet at the Deer Creek Canyon Park parking lot, 13388 Grizzly Dr, Littleton, CO 80127.  Arrive by 7:45 am for a prompt 8:00 am hiking start.  Pack your 10 essentials, a light lunch, and layers as appropriate to the weather.  I will write a day or two before with a weather report.
