Eagle's Nest Open Space is located along the North Fork of the Cache La Poudre River. This hike is a 5.2 figure 8 loop with 630 feet elevation gain which makes it perfect for an early spring hike to kick off the hiking season. This open space has breathtaking views of the Laramie Foothills as well as mountain mahogany foothills interspersed with rabbitbrush and ponderosa pine that provide diverse habitat for wildlife. The local landmark Eagle's Nest Rock has been home to nesting golden eagles for over a hundred years! So an eagle sighting may be possible. We will have a lunch/snack break by the river. Our pace will be comfortable for all participants.
The Colorado Mountain Club's Ascending Hike Section (AHS) provides an opportunity to make new friends and explore new places in Colorado's backcountry, while increasing your personal hiking speed, strength, and stamina. The section is administered by CMC volunteers. There is no cost, fee, or scheduling commitment. Open to all CMC members. To join the section, contact the CMC office (Ascending Hikes Section — The Colorado Mountain Club (cmc.org))
