  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,400 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 12,400 ft
  • Pace: 1.5 mph with 1000' gain per hour

Please note that this is not a fast hike.  We will enjoy the cool scenery and expect to travel about 1.5 mph.

Meeting Time is EARLY because of limited parking at the trailhead.  We need SUV drivers that are comfortable with rough roads.

Meet at Golden Gate Rd Parking at 5:15 am for departure no later than 530 am.  The parking lot is located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Golden Gate Canyon Road and CO 93.  The location on Google Maps is here.

We will travel north on CO 91 to CO 72 (Coal Creek Canyon Rd) and follow CO 72 to the intersection with CO 119.  Follow CO 119 to Eldora Road, and when Eldora Rd ends, take a right onto 4th of July Rd, and follow it to the trailhead at the end of the road.  There are restrooms at the trailhead, and no rest stops are planned.  The round-trip mileage is 74 miles, and a map of the drive can be found here.
