  • Pace: 2.0 - 2.5mph

This is lovely hike on good trails and should have abundant birds and wildflowers - especially after the recent rains. If we are lucky we will hear the elusive Oven Bird that is only found near the high point of this hike. We will pass by an old cabin and then reach a couple of picnic tables with views down over the Fountain Formations of Roxborough State Park. This will be our lunch spot. The hike goes gently up hill for 2.5 miles then it is all downhill so the 12 miles or so will not be too challenging.

Here is a link to our route on COTREX.

Your hike leader is a Volunteer Naturalist at the park so will share some knowledge of the geology, early inhabitants, and homesteaders.

Meet at Roxborough State Park, lower parking lot at 7:45am for 8:00am departure. There are restrooms here. Here is a Google Map Link to the parking lot. You will need a Colorado State Parks Pass to park here - if you don't have one, we can arrange to pick you at the Safeway in Roxborough village.

We will car shuttle to Indian Creek TH (here is a Google Map Link) then walk back to Roxborough. We will need someone kind enough to shuttle the drivers back to Indian Creek after the hike.
