This hike is for strong Ascending Hikers who have been working on high altitudes and long distances over the past several months. Do not underestimate the altitude gain.
As with all high altitude hikes - this trip will be weather dependent. You must be prepared for wind, rain, and uneven terrain.

Meet at Wooly Mammoth Park n Ride Section BB at 5:00 am for a prompt 5:15 am departure. Wooly Mammoth is located at Wooly Mammoth Park-N-Ride, 18560 U.S. Hwy 40, Golden, CO 80401. It is a 2 hour drive to the trailhead, and we will take a rest stop along the way.
If you plan meet us at the Bear Lake Trailhead, we will gather at the Bear Lake Trailhead at 7:30 am for a 7:45 departure. You will need a special Timed Entry + Bear Lake Rd permit, as well as a National Park Entry Fee. You can make a reservation starting July 1 at 8:00 am for a reservation in September.
Required Equipment
10 essentials, including sunscreen, warm layers, and rain gear. This is a long hike, and we are leaving early in the morning, so plan for sufficient food and hydration.
