We'll be hiking and out-n-back route from the Twin Sisters trailhead in RMNP to the dual summits of Twin Sisters Peaks (~7.5 miles and ~2500 ft elevation gain). Twins Sisters Peaks is located on an island of NPS property, bordering Tahosa Valley and affording unobstructed views of Longs Peak to the southwest. The trail climbs though dense forest with a series of switchbacks, with the views of Longs Peak becoming more impressive. At about 3 miles, there will be a view of the Mummy Range to the northeast. We'll leave tree cover at this point and able to see the summit. Lake Estes and Estes Park to the north come into view. When we reach the saddle between the twin peaks, we'll head to the right and summit West peak, with spectacular views of the Mummy Range to the NW, Longs and Meeker to the W, and Indian Peaks Wilderness to the SE. We'll return to the saddle and try our hand at the East peak, which requires a moderate scramble and climb to the top. We'll also get a view of Twin Sisters Mountain to the SE. We'll find a spot at or near the summits to stop for lunch/snack while we take in the views. Our pace will be determined by the strength, stamina, and endurance of the group. We'll make our way down off the saddle and return to the cars by the same route. (Twin Sisters Peaks - RMNP - CalTopo)
