This will be a nice day out in Hidden Valley. If visibility and conditions allow we will ascend via typical routes for the area to the top of the old upper lift. From there we have the option to descend our up track or seek a line slightly skiers right. We’ll also scout the old runs on the initial ascent for possible alternative lower descent options. The pace should be conversational but deliberate for the group. Expect a 3-4 hour outing. Depending on group interest possible stop for lunch/beverages in Estes on the way home (not required for interest in the trip). Note this trip is inside RMNP, and there may be a need to split park entrance fees amongst any carpools in addition to typical mileage reimbursement.
Given the inherent potential for changes in conditions, we will evaluate status one week before the trip and may choose to modify to a location in the front range offering similar difficulty/length as needed.
Please reach out to Jeff Schreier (schreier.jeff@gmail.com) with your interest in the trip and provide a description of your avalanche training and backcountry touring experience for approval to join the trip.
