Moderate trail, out and back, to the American Lakes area near Cameron Pass. Roundtrip to the lakes (11,300ft) is approximately 8 miles and 1,500ft elevation gain.

You will need to bring the 10 essentials for backpacking, 2 days worth of food, and plenty of water to start with. The route will be the same as the official Route & Place.
