Backpack – Four Pass Loop
We are backpacking the 28 mile, 4 Pass Loop, (6-9 SEP 2022) starting at the West Maroon Trailhead close to Crested Butte. We will take 4 days to hike this counter-clockwise loop. At each of the 4 passes (optional) we will stop to climb the nearby 13ers.

Most plan to drive to Crested Butte on Monday afternoon, 5 SEP 2022. You may spend the night in town here or drive out to spend the night at the West Maroon Trailhead.
If you have a high clearance, preferably 4WD vehicle, you can drive to West Maroon Trailhead. You’ll follow Gothic Road (CO 317) out of Crested Butte for 13 miles. It’s a dirt road and should be passable in most vehicles until you reach Gothic (about 7.9 miles in). After that, you will likely need a high clearance/4WD vehicle.
From the trailhead it's a 3.1 mile hike to the junction of the Four Pass Loop.
Required Equipment
Tent, sleeping bag, ground pad, water filter, stove/fuel, BEAR CANISTER.
Food for 4 days.
Trekking poles may be desired. Bring a helmet if climbing the 13ers.
