We will meet near the Pikes Peak Entrance Gate at 5089 Pikes Peak Highway, Cascade, Co at 5:30 to organize carpools to drive in free of charge at 6am.  Instructions will be sent regarding the parking lots you may park in near the entrance.  You will be emailed a placard, to print and bring with you for entrance and to placed on your dashboard in a visible location, where ever your car is parked.  We will drive to Devils Playground to park and consolidate more if we can to carpool to the top of Pikes Peak.  We are only allowed 4 vehicles on the top, may need to do some shuttling. More information sent to participant.

The Pikes Peak Group has been maintaining the A-Frame for the Forest Service since 1999.  The A-Frame is located along the Barr Trail near tree line at about 11,664 ft. The overall project: We will be carrying lumber, shingles and other supplies from the top of Pikes Peak down approximately 3 miles to the A-Frame on Aug 20-21.  We will be replacing the roof with new shingles, replacing front supports, painting the exterior and interior on Aug 27-28.  When complete, all old material and trash will be packed back to the top for disposal.  Plans are to camp there each weekend.  You are signing up to carry materials from the top of Pikes Peak to the AFrame on Aug 20th & 21st.  Please indicate if only working for one day and which day.

If you are camping overnight, please have your tent, bag and personal gear.  If not have your food / snacks / water / 10 essentials for the day.  PPG will furnish all materials and tools. Also freeze-dried meals for the one night there.  There is water at the A-Frame, we will have filters and stoves for warming water. This will not be an easy hike carrying material from 14,115 ft to 11,664 and returning.  Be sure you are physically fit enough to hike up/down the trail at altitude carrying your gear and supplies as needed. To conserve parking at the top carpooling will be planned and space coordinated at the A-Frame to fit the group.  Coming with a friend – consider sharing tent.
If the trip is full, please go on Standby as we’re uncertain how many people are needed.
