We will enjoy snowshoeing into Wild Basin in RMNP along the North St. Vrain Creek past frozen Copeland Falls on a snow-covered horse trail, then on to the spectacular Hidden Falls where you may see ice climbers testing their skills on this frozen waterfall. This is a 4.4 mile out and back trail with a 500' gain through a peaceful area of RMNP. Once we arrive at the Wild Basin entrance, we will snowshoe (or use microspikes, depending upon snow conditions) along this beautiful trail to Hidden Falls, where we will have our lunch. We will return along the same trail to our vehicles at the road, then carpool back to the Visitor Center.
There are two meeting locations, depending on where you come from: 1) JAX parking lot (SE edge), 2665 W. Eisenhower Blvd., Loveland at 8:00 a.m. to carpool 27 miles west on U.S. Hwy 34, or 2) Estes Park Visitor's Center, 500 Big Thompson Ave. (NE end of parking lot) by 8:45 a.m. Please let Anita Wright know in advance which meeting location you will be at (970-222-5920 or adwright2001@yahoo.com). After a quick restroom break, we will carpool to the Wild Basin entrance of RMNP 16 miles south on Hwy. 7.
