Ride recommended for semi-experienced MTB riders interested in a more challenging ride with elevation.  You should be comfortable on single track; some prolonged elevation gain; intermediate (blue) and advanced (black) MTB trails.  

Approximately 20-25 Miles (group adjusted) and ride should require no longer than 3-4 hours with a couple breaks.  Average speed 6-7 mi/h for total trip is desired.

Primary trails for ride include: Chamberlain / Chamberlain Connector / Ladders / Gold Camp / Spring Creek / Upper Gold Camp / Daniels Pass / Sweetwater Canyon / Columbine / Chutes (Specific trails ridden will be adjusted based on experience level of riders.)

MTB setup recommended: Full Suspension XC or Enduro; drop post also recommended.  However, if experienced a front suspension only is doable if you normally ride with this setup.  

IMBA: RULES OF THE TRAIL will be followed:

  • Ride Open Trails: open / legal / not wet
  • Leave no Trace riding principles
  • CONTROL your Bike: ride within your limits and DON'T SKID on trails
  • Yield to others; Primarily other hikers and trailrunners
  • Never Scare Animals
  • Plan ahead: familiarize yourself with area; water; 1st aid; emergency contact

Meet at Stratton Open Space East Trailhead at 7:00 am (Saturday)

1504 Ridgeway Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80906

The Stratton Open Space is located adjacent to North Cheyenne Canon Park. Take 21st Street South (this street turns into Cresta Road) and turn right on W CHEYENNE BLVD and right on Ridgeway Avenue to the trailhead parking area on your right.  A porta john (bathroom) is avaialable at trailhead.

Bring a helmet and make sure your bike is in good working order before you arrive to the event!

Complete Pre-Ride: ABC "Quick hand check" for your bike:  Check "air pressure" both tires; Check front & rear brakes; Check "chain" lube if necessary; Check headset and quick releases before ride.


COVID protocol SUMMARY

1.DO NOT participant on the trip if you feel you have symptoms of the virus

2.Take your temperature 24 hours prior to the trip and confirm to the trip leader it is less than 100.4 F

3.The trip will be limited to 6 people including leader due to minimize potential impact other users
