Camp – BPX 3-Day: Turquoise Lake Printer Boy Campground

End of summer group campout for the BPX section at Turquoise Lake! This 3-day trip to Turquoise Lake near Leadville can accommodate up to 35 people. We’ll be camping at the Printer Boy Campground, on the eastern end of the lake. We have a group site reserved, which means you’ll be pitching your tent around a lot of other people. This is more of a social weekend than a remote wilderness experience, though you’ll be surrounded by Rocky Mountain splendor there at 10,000 feet with a large recreational lake close by, just below the Continental Divide and within driving distance of the Mt Massive Wilderness. You can look forward to hiking (we'll have multiple day hikes) as well as a range of recreational options, plus fun times at camp.

  • High Point Elevation: 10,000 ft

TENT CAMPING ONLY.

Leader is only accepting adults for this trip, and only CMC members.

How this trip works: Sign up for this activity if you want to join the group camping trip. All campers must commit to two nights and pay for their spot (payment will be taken 1 month before the trip). If you want to join the optional day hikes, those trips will be opened as separate CMC activities 1 month before the trip. The leader will email all campers the links to sign up for the hikes; hike sign-ups are first come, first serve as we can’t take the whole camping group on each trip. Hikes are likely to include a range of easy, moderate, and difficult trips (including some possible high peaks!)

Other activities that campers can enjoy during this trip, at their own risk:

  • Kayaking
  • Paddle boarding
  • Fishing
  • Beach time, swimming (swimming is allowed)
  • Hiking other trails in the area (there are lots!)
  • Summiting nearby Mt Massive or Mt Elbert
  • Cycling
  • High altitude running (this area is part of the Leadville 100)

AFTER YOU SIGN UP:

For those who sign up for the camping trip, I will reach out to you 1 month before the trip. At that time, I will confirm you’re still coming and ask for payment for your camping spot (should be around $10 a person for the weekend). We will also open the day hikes for sign-ups and send you those links. From there, we will coordinate carpools and organize group meals, and I’ll also try to determine what activities people want to do to make sure everyone has people to hang out with–but you should plan to make friends and choose your own adventure on this trip!

Saturday Aug 26, 2023: Denver area folks to meet at Woolly Mammoth Park n Ride and carpool to the Printer Boy Campground.

We can fit 15 vehicles at the site, so we need to consolidate while getting everyone's gear in!
