Carpool details will be determined in consultation with the group. For now, anticipate meeting at the AMC in Golden. It's an all-day drive to the Grand Canyon, so expect to leave around 6:00 am.

Before registering for this trip, please contact the leader, Tim Musil (303 384-3521; tmusil@comcast.net). This is a five day adventure so we want to make sure this trip is right for you.

Participants need to be physically fit and capable of hiking at a moderate pace for hikes that take place over three consecutive days. All will be invited to join at least one pre-trip group hike to get to know each other and to go over the trip details.

Be prepared for large temperature variances. The hikes will generally take place on the north rim above 8,000 feet in elevation where temps should be moderate. However, one hike will descend deep in the canyon where temps can be hot.

Carpool leaves Denver on Monday, June 24. Check-in that evening at the Grand Canyon North Rim Campground. Three nights are reserved and the campsite allows up to 6 people and 2 vehicles. Meals can be at the campground or at north rim establishments.

Check-out of the campground on Thursday, June 27. After completing the last hike we'll begin the drive home. Stay at a motel that evening, either in Utah or in Grand Junction, CO.

All costs will be equally shared. A precise cost will be determined later, but is estimated at $300 per person. Costs would consist of the CMC mileage fee or rental vehicle if no one wants to volunteer to drive; the campground fee; and one night motel cost.
